Christmas Food Baskets
The Christmas season can be a
difficult time of the year for struggling families in our
area. Rotarians met on December 22nd to
prepare 125 food baskets in an effort to show our love and
concern for those less fortunate. The baskets contained a
turkey, ham, can vegetables, fruit, bread, and candies.
After preparing the baskets, Rotarians and their families
delivered the baskets to the homes.
To remember the widows of
deceased Rotarians, fruit baskets were purchased and
delivered to their homes.
Club members and family
members along with a few members from our community met to
prepare the baskets. Rotarians met at 7:30 a.m. and
delivered baskets throughout the day...
Family members of Rotarians
and several people from the community came to help prepare
the baskets. Several of the grocery stores provided food
items at cost.
Rotarians made personal
donations to the project.
The Christmas season can be a
stressful time especially for those struggling
financially. Our club feels this project is by far the
most meaningful. Even though what we provide may be
small, we are making a positive difference in their
lives. This is an awesome way to show these families what
Rotary is truly all about - service. For Rotarians and
their families, we are reminded how truly blessed we are
and how much we have to be thankful for. The reward
Rotarians receive from delivering these baskets is
indescribable.
125 baskets were delivered to
deserving families and 16 fruit baskets were delivered to
widows of deceased Rotarians. These widows were so
appreciative to be remembered during the holidays. |
